Thanks to everyone who made it to the True Love & False Idols Fashion Boutique at Orangewood Group Home!

True Love and False Idols is a designer streetwear line rooted in LA Culture, Punk and Hip Hop. TLFI co-owner/designer, Alex Vaz, has been a big Project Nightlight supporter since the begining and was more than willing to help when we asked him to speak as a part of our fashion program at Orangewood Children's Home. Alex spoke to about 40 teenage foster children at the home, giving his inspirational story on growing up hardcore edge, getting into trouble, and then turning it around

His brutal honesty kept the kids jaw dropped while he talked about everything from getting arrested to grinding it out in design school to putting in major sweat equity getting his company off the ground. He also shared his philosophy on being straight edge and why it’s much cooler NOT to do drugs, alcohol or tobacco. After Alex was done answering all of their questions, Laura stepped up to give a few words of advice on following your dreams and going to fashion school. Then, we unleashed the teens to fight over the massive supply of TLFI goods that Alex brought for them. Of course, our team of volunteer fashionistas was there to help them pick things out. (Thanks Jennifer, Kendra, Laura and Seda!)

The teens were obviously excited about Alex and some of the girls even drew hearts drawn on their comment cards.
