Thanks for your interest in volunteering with Project Nightlight! Since Project Nightlight has no paid full-time employees, we depend on volunteers for everything from working hands on with children, to graphic design and fundraising.

Right now, we're in the process of trying to build up our network of volunteers. Here's a list of some of our volunteer needs. Please let us know if you can help in any of these areas. If you have a knack for something that isn't listed below, please let us know that too. No matter what your interests or talents, we've got a job for you!

Interested in volunteering? Check out the list below and then complete the Volunteer Sign-up Form and send it over to volunteer@projectnightlight.org. ---> Volunteer Sign-up Form

Volunteer Coordinator: We have lots of volunteers, but no one to coordinate their efforts. If you're good at organizing and motivating others, this is the job for you! This opportunity includes sending out bi-weekly emails announcing upcoming volunteer opportunities and recruiting new volunteers.

Night Time Team: Work with others to secure and gather donations of nightlights, stuffed animals, blankets, books, journals and pj's to be given to children at the moment that they are removed from their home. Most of these children leave all of their possessions behind and have nothing. Project Nightlight tries to help them feel more at home by providing items that will make them feel safe in their new surroundings. This opportunity will include activities such as contacting toy manufacturers and toy stores about donations.

Phone Calling and Apointment Setting: Coordinate our high energy abuse awareness sessions at local after school programs. This is great for someone who has time to make phone calls from home.

Guest Speakers: Do you enjoy working hands on with children and teens? Then, this is the job for you. Go with us into after school programs and help us inspire children to report abuse.

Publicists: We need help getting the word out about our programs. We also need to increase the size of the people on our mailing list. If you have contacts in the media world, we need your help!

Fashionistas: Have friends in the apparel business??? We need you! We are constantly being asked to provide clothing for teenagers. If you have any contacts or are willing to help us secure donations, let us know.

Event Planning: Like to plan parties? We need your help planning our next event.

Grant Writing: If you are detail oriented and like to write, please, please, please consider helping us out with grant applications. Don't let the urban legends scare you...not all grant applications are a hundred pages long. Most grants that we apply for only require a few pages outlining our budget, mission and project details. No experience required!

Skateboarders: We have many programs to teach kids to skateboard. If you're down, we can use your help.

Graphic Designers: We need tshirts and schwag. Please help!

Video Editors: We need to cut down our PSAs to 15 and 30 seconds. If you can help, please let us know.

MySpace / Facebook Manager: Help us grow our social networking. Write back to people who contact us. Get your friends to be our friends. Spruce up our page.

Writers
We need writers, writers and more writers! The important thing here is that we need writers that reflect the Project Nightlight style. We need fun writers that can inspire our kids and our volunteers, but also communicate our message.

*We are about to overhaul our website for our teens – Do you have an upbeat hipster writing style? If so, we need your help!

More Writers
We also need someone to take over our monthly email/newsletter to volunteers and supporters.

Even More Writers
Last, we need persuasive letters to send out to our donors

Animal Assisted Activity Dogs/Cats/Bunnies
We have lots of requests for visits with pets. Is your pet certified by the Delta Society? If not, let’s get him/her certified and make our kids happy. We work with dogs, cats and bunnies. We take these loveable furry friends into group children’s homes and into schools. We talk about properly caring for and loving animals and what to do if a pet is being abused. Then, we teach children how protecting and caring for pets is similar to protecting themselves, ultimately teaching a child to get help if they are being abused.

Are you a female Living near Magic Mountain?
We need mentors for our foster children in juvenille detention.

Special Topics for Teen Moms
We need speakers for our program for teen moms in Long Beach. This 20 week program includes the following topics, Shaken Baby Syndrom, Post Partum Depression, Domestic Violence, Positive Reinforcement vs Corporal Punishment, Baby Proofing, Low-Income Housing.

Boxing
Our Saturday boys Boxervate (boxing/motivational program) needs volunteers. We already have a coach, but we need others to work out with the boys.
